Car Parks...
What Is Automated Parking?
There are over 550 million cars on the road worldwide, and this number is increasing at a rate
of more than 5% annually. As the number of drivers grows, so does the demand for convenient and
safe parking. Automated parking, a method of automatically parking and retrieving cars, solves
these and many other parking problems.
With automated parking, the driver parks his car at the entrance to the parking structure. From
there, the vehicle is automatically moved through the garage and stored in an open parking space.
This is done by a computerized system of pallets, lifts and carriers. The car is then returned to
the driver using a signaling device located outside the building.
Automated parking increases the number of cars that can be parked in a conventional garage.
This means you will have more parking spaces than with a ramp-style structure of the same size.
Or, it means you can use considerably less land to build a garage that has the same amount of
parking as a larger conventional structure.
Automated parking garages are safer than ramp-style parking facilities. In a conventional
garage, drivers risk vehicle damage, theft and personal injury. With automated parking, these
problems are eliminated. Drivers never enter the garage.
Automated parking garages are also more convenient. You won't have to take long walks to and
from your car, look for parking spaces, remember where you're parked, or spend time waiting for
elevators and climbing stairs. You simply leave your car at the entrance to the parking structure,
and the system handles the rest.
Parking experts now predict that automated parking will be the next major movement in the
parking industry.
